Your Wedding

Unlike most officiants, I don't change my rates based on how few or how many guests you have, or the "length and complexity" of your service.  Together, we will create your ceremony script, and I will provide an outline for your rehearsal.

The flat rate includes up to 2 hours of my time on your wedding day.  I arrive early, make sure the site is set up, make sure everyone knows what's going on, and then it's showtime.  Also included (of course) is the filing of your paperwork, and any followup care you need, such as helping with changing names, etc.  I'm keeping it simple!

Elopement

Just want to "make it legal"? No problem.  The elopement special covers 20 minutes of my time, which is more than enough.  You bring your marriage license, identification, and two witnesses over 18 years old.  You will recite the traditional vows, which takes approximately five minutes.   This can take place at my home or a meeting place within 15 minutes of my home in Portage, MI.  (Lakeview Park in Portage is nice!)
  • ALL PARTIES MUST BE SOBER.
  • Make sure you bring your ID.
  • We do your vows, just as in a traditional service.  In signing your certificate, I am swearing that you did so.

Hospital Weddings

This is much like a traditional ceremony, except for constraints imposed by the facility or your medical condition.  We will create your wedding script together.  You must obtain permission from the facility to have a wedding.  Check to make sure if you have to use their chaplain or if you can have an outside minister do the service. Check with the facility on the following items:
  •    Is he/she able to move to the chapel, or will you be using the patient's room?
  •    Are flowers permitted in that unit?
  •    How many guests are permissible?
  •    Is he/she able to change into nice clothing for during the ceremony?
  •    Are you allowed to bring in cake or other food?
  •    Is there a time limit on the service?

 Jail Weddings

This is much like a traditional ceremony, except for constraints imposed by the facility. We will create your ceremony script together.  You must obtain permission from the facility to have a wedding.  Check to make sure if you have to use their chaplain or if you can have an outside minister do the service.  Check with the facility on the following items:
  •    Is there a dollar limit to the value of any wedding ring you are giving him?
  •    Are flowers permitted?
  •    What is the process for bringing guests to the wedding?
  •    Are you allowed to bring nice clothing for him to wear during the ceremony?
  •    Are you allowed to bring in cake or other foods?
  •    Is there a time limit on the service?
  •    Are there restrictions on photography?
Jail guidelines for getting married may be quite complex.  Check with your facility's Chaplain for specific information.

Be aware that travel fees will apply.  Thumb $50, Standish $100, Kinross $250 - this is in addition to the charge for the wedding itself.
